ND Protest over Obama delivering Commencement Address
I heard an interview this morning, on Fox News Channel, Sirius Radio. Greta V was interviewing two coeds from Notre Dame who have begun a protest movement designed to have the ND administration "un-invite" Obama as the Commencement speaker because of his pro-choice beliefs.

From what they had to say, it appears the ND administration is not going to act to keep Obama from appearing (huge spotlight on the university for that day, and you can't buy that much prestige), and the ladies were rather upset.

I found the whole thing rather ironic. Women, who are treated like 2nd Class citizens in the Catholic Church, going out of their way to try to make a statement. You would think that after nearly 4 years at ND, they would have gotten the message that their church has no interest in what they have to say. Slow learners apparently.

Would you find it "less ironic" (and perhaps more acceptable) if these women didn't speak their mind?

Remember when women weren't even allowed to attend Notre Dame? Good times.

The irony isn't lost on me here. That's the reason Namath didn't go there.

Absolutely not! They should speak their mind. I have raised a daughter who excels at speaking her mind! My point was that here are two women attempting to speak out to protect the same church that has delegated them to the far reaches of the catholic universe. And one more time, the church is not listening to them. Makes me wonder how long it will take them to realize they may have wasted a lot of time chasing after something they will never get.
