RE: How do we fix EMU
I'm glad this thread has taken such a ridiculous turn away from the Temple bashing (news flash - bash the posted, not the school and/or the rest of its fans) it was devolving into:
"You are either with us or against us."
"One person can create a conference."
"Ohio won the MAC in 1968 and Bo to save face fled in exile to Ann Arbor."
"The MAC stands for Ohio and allies."
"a negative view of Philly as a crap hole"
"Serious college football fans pretty much know who we are."
For those MAC fans who want Temple to join the league as a full member, I suggest using this guy as argument #! for why full MAC membership would be so much more interesting. The closest thing we've got to this kind of humor in the A-10 is St. Joe's and its "Perfect Season - 30-2" banner hanging up in their fieldhouse.
I promise not to judge all Ohio fans based on "Airport KC," so long as you all promise not to do the same with Temple fans based on "templefootballfan" - sound good? Now to seal the deal, can I interest anyone in a "Temple-UConn II: REVENGE!" lawn sign?

Amazing you can not get intelligent conversation from college educated men. Like talking to a women, Off the wall anwsers that make no sence.
Zippy, who the hell are you to tell me to STFU. I'm grown man who has taken care of his bussiness. What school I follow has nothing with opinuns that I have. I expect you to act like grown man also.
tchaump, "don't judge temple fans by me" ARE YOU KIDDING ME. At worst I'm tolerated on this board, Temple fans are judged by the immature rants from your buddies on owlscope

Curious, do you get a commission every time you mention Solich being under contract until 2013?:bcs:

RE: How do we fix EMU
Currently, EMU is competitive in all sports. That's what counts. Period. 8 MAC titles last year. Reese Trophy in mens sports this year. Beat NI, WMU, CMU in football last season to finish middle of the pack in football. Middle of the pack in mens basketball. Won the MAC in baseball. That's the current situation. Current is what matters. Competing is what matters.
Put any of your fine schools 5 miles from UM, and you will have the same attendance issues, pure and simple (the two football stadiums are literally 5 miles apart). Not one of your programs could overcome that.
So what if attendance is lower. Are your mighty programs above playing in a stadium with fewer people in it on occasion. Give me a break. It takes an exceptional season for EMU attendance numbers to go up. That's the nature of the location. Anyway, attendance issues are between EMU and the NCAA. We have D1 facilities, we attract excellent athletes, and we compete.
Maybe some of you want the MAC to be a bunch of small town clone schools, where the game on Sat. is the only thing going on. Personally, I like the somewhat urban environment that schools like Temple, EMU, and Akron bring to the mix. Instead of trying to figure out how to "fix EMU" you ought to be embracing what we are currently accomplishing in our unique enviroment, and looking over your shoulder for the next defeat you could very well take from the school some of you say shouldn't be in the MAC...Go Eagles!

So you're a misogynist, too. Excellent. And how exactly is pointing out that you have a nearly .333 winning percentage against the MAC an off the wall answer that makes no sense?
Why you want to kick out EMU is beyond me. That's the only school Temple has a winning record against, beside Akron, which actually has a 5-2 record against you since they've become a full-fledged I-A program. You should be pushing to be in the same division as EMU as that's the only program that's worse than yours.

RE: How do we fix EMU
Here's an educated woman to give my opinion. The way you and everyone else wants to "fix" EMU is to kick them out of the MAC. Well guess what, if you kick us out of the MAC, almost half of the mens' sports will LOSE their NCAA automatic bids for the other sports. You must have at least six teams to receive an automatic NCAA berth.
When you are surrounded by two Big 10 schools that are less than 60 miles apart from each other (UM and MSU), it's hard to get fans. When your board of regents would rather go to an UM or MSU game because they have season tickets, it's hard to get support. When you have students who go to a UM or MSU game because mommy, daddy, or the grandparents have season tickets, it's hard to get support. I know this feeling because I currently work at a college that have two Big 10 branch schools within a 12 mile radius (one B10 branch school is 4 miles away). Even when our college wins a big game, we get no coverage.
I know we haven't done well in football for years, but EMU is what is keeping the MAC from losing a number of NCAA bids. So don't rag on EMU.
BTW OU fans, thanks to Kirby, track and field in the MAC is on life support.

I like women. After TFF's statement I'm almost embarrassed to be a man.
And what a pity it would be for MAC track to go under. The MAC was truly a natioanl powerhouse at one time- Gold Medals for Haisley Crawford and Wottle and Gerald Tinker.NCAA champs like Aaron Hopkins, Al Schotterman, Wottle, Sink et al. It will be a sad, sad day when somebody throws that awy totally in favor of tilting at football windmills. Anybody who belittles EMU's success in Olympic sports is pathetically shortsighted. There was a time when real sports fans on the East coast knew EMU track more than they knew OU football. People the world over knew the name Haisley Crawford-
