Block in the back...end of story.

Wrong. That is NOT a penalty because it is within the tackles (actually the rule is within 5 yards of either side of the middle of the offensive center point) and within 3 yards of either side of the line of scrimmage. It is legal to block in the back within the tackle box.

This is NOT a penalty.

I know 5 yards laterally and 3 yards longitudinally....I didn't realize that was true for blocks in the back (I knew clips were exempt in the tackle box)

There were several holds, that were not getting called in the first half, that all of the sudden were getting called in the second half against CMU. It was their homecoming and generally they are going to get the benefit of the doubt at home but the timing of the penalties was awful. The late hit after the fake field ago attempt was brutal, as was the hit out of bounds, it seemed like every time we would get a little momentum, either a bad call or freak play would turn it around.

So the 25 point loss was due to NIU getting hosed by the officials?

Check the other posts. We all agree that the officiating wasn't the cause of the loss. It's just something to ***** about...

No it was due to 6 turnovers and going 0-4 in the redszone.

Not sure who said that.

The thread was about bad officiating, which didn't help with our poor play, which help result in a 25 point loss. I am sure we would have lost the game regardless but if a few calls had been made or reversed it might have changed things a little.

Actually five trips to the redzone to total 3 points. I do not think I have ever seen a team amass over five hundred yards of offense, and only score 10 points.

I could try to be positive and highlight the 500 yards of Huskie O and the way the CMU O was shut out in the second half, but I just can't do it with a straight face.

I still think there will come a point in this season where the Huskies start clicking.

Yep, and I still agree with you.

It's just a shame when it happens it will be too little too late.
