Torch,

Where did you cut your wresting teeth at?

In my book there is no way you can add Hacksaw Butch Reed without having JYD. That was one of my favorite rivalries growing up?

Torch.. you and I would need a web page to display our complete list.

UH.. I was back and forth about JYD. I can see where he wouldn't make some lists. If "good rivalries" are a requirement, then Tommy Rich would get some consideration because if his rivalry with Buzz Sawyer.

But there's no way I'm adding Tommy Rich to my list. Buzz Sawyer? Maybe.

JYD was my favorite wrestler growing up, so he would have made my list without Hacksaw Butch Reed. If you only saw JYD when he was in the WWE, then I can understand why he may or may not make your list, but I grew up with him and remember when he used run things the here in Oklahoma, Louisisana and Texas. It is kind of like how all the Memphis peole love Jerry "The King" Lawler.

I understand that a lot of people's opinons on wrestlers depends on who they grew up with and how much access they had to cable. I grew up in East Texas and didn't have extended TV until 1997. I did not see much "Atlanta wrasslin" as my friends called it when I was growing up, so I missed Rick Flair, Sting, et al during their glory years.

I would like to have seen that.

You're absolutely right, I saw JYD mostly on WWF.

I believe I saw him occasionally on Ga Championship Wrestling, but not often.

Tommy Rich had a good push for a young guy. There are many people who say his feud w/ Buzz Sawyer really burned him out.

I agree w/ you, I wouldn't put Rich in, and probably not Sawyer either.

Mostly Georgia Championship Wrestling. They had alot of good guys come through in the years I watched. I remember liking the Briscoes, but I think they must have left pretty early on. I saw a lot of Tommy Rich, and Superstar/Mr. Wrestling II. But, occasionally I saw Ernie "Big Cat" Ladd, Kevin von Erich (in an incredible TV match w/ Superfly Snuka!) the Crusher, Raymond Rougeau and of course Chick Donovan!

I remember being stunned by some guy named Sterling Golden, too.

One guy I would toss out for consideration would be Bob Armstrong. Don't think he held major belts, but he was on TV every week then too.

Eventually that turned into the Rock and Roll Express, the Midnight Express, and of course the Four Horsemen.

I'd also get to see some wrestling on a channel from Dayton: Chris Adams is the only memory from that one.

But in a few years, I had my own HS wrestling career, WWF started to outshine the NWA/WCW, and I generally had less time.

But, in '94 when Nitro started, in six years I probably missed less than 10 Monday night shows considering both Nitro and RAW. That doesn't count the Wed Thunder, Smackdown, and the WCW Saturday night shows!

I grew up watching Mid-Atlantic Wresting (North Carolina) back in the late '70s and JYD put in some time there, but not enough for me to embrace him as a favorite -- probably because he never went "over" on anyone for a major title.

Naturally, I was treated with doses of Ric Flair who became my favorite because not only could he wrestle, but the sumb---- could entertain (deliver promos) with the best of them.

---

I never saw Jerry "the King" Lawyer in his heyday, but I respect the masses who saw him enough to put him on my HOF list.
