alright.. that was somewhat funny... but it's depressing nearly 75 people have read the thread and NOBODY even wants to add their board name. Ugh. If you really don't want the Zell quote included... the letter is (as I posted) more than open to revision.

When you wrap something like that in anything even remotely political there is no reason to expect full participation, or even much participation. Your letter implies support for the war and the justifications that allowed it to happen.

I will not presume to know what your motivation is for this, but it is a trick of those with a certain political bent to wrap the war with the soldiers fighting it, the leader who started the war gets wrapped around that, and the political factions that placed the leader there around that, all of it then neatly wrapped in the flag. Rejection of any of those is then used as proof that those who dissent do not support the soldiers and hate our country.

You'll have to excuse many of us if we pass on your offer and find alternative ways to help these young people who have been placed in harm's way.

No offense is intended by my comments, GTS, but if you really, sincerely want to help this cause, check your politics at the door.

 See, you gotta just be like me and forget about politics. I hear people at work arguing about politics all the time and I just stay out of it.

Staying out of political arguments is probably wise. Staying out of politics altogether is, unfortunately, probably fatal these days.

A guy I roomed with for one semester at CMU was a Political Science major and an Economics minor. People used to ask him all the time what he was going to do for a living, and his usual response was: "Nothing. I just want to know why I'm standing in the unemployment line."

Anyhow, one evening there was a lively debate in the hallway outside our room. A staunch Republican and an equally unyielding Democrat were arguing the merits of the party platforms. A small audience had gathered, and my curiousity overcame my urge to do homework, so I stepped outside to listen. Into the middle of all this came my roommate. He stood there quietly for about two or three minutes sipping his coffee before one of the combatants, exasperated by his opponents' views, noticed him and demanded his opinion. Tom looked up with a surprised expression and asked simply, "So let me get this straight: you think there's actually that much difference between the two major parties? Huh." With that, he shook his head and went into our room. The two that had been arguing were rendered utterly speechless and sat staring at the door for a minute before going their own way. The rest of us broke out in quiet applause. 03-lol

That used to be both humorous and true.
