2.)Tulane, they're going all out right now, new coach, new stadium, etc. Bring great recruiting grounds, academics, market and road trips.

3.)Brigham Young, great football, great basketball, solid academics, national presence, market, etc.

4.)Cincinnati, brings good basketball, good football. Good market, and bridges gap to WVU

5.)Memphis, brings great basketball, mediocre football. Is in Central Time Zone. Good market, and bridges gap to WVU.

6.)Southern Miss, brings good football, okay basketball. Is in Central Time Zone. Good recruiting grounds.

I really don't think Memphis and Southern Miss are feasible candidates.

Tulane is interesting, although they play in a pretty small gym for BB as I recall. They would be a great addition academically, no question. But just building a new stadium does not guarantee FB success. At best, they would be the Vanderbilt or Wake Forest of the Big 12. Maybe compete for a minor bowl game here and there. And does Tulane really bring much of a fan base? I'd imagine that most FB fans in New Orleans are concerned primarily with the Saints and LSU.

Tulane would offer tv sets , ajoining footprint, great recruiting area, super road trips, and a prod in Sec behind, plus AAU .

I like Memphis for same reasons plus B-Ball but I think thier a reach.

If I was betting it would be UL and BYU 1st , UL and Tulane 2nd

NIU would get the Big 12 into B1G country and provide a little payback for taking the first strike in this whole realignment mess by luring NU away.

I like the enthusiasm, but come on now... NIU isn't going anywhere.

I still think grabbing Rutgers to get exposure in NYC would be huge. Obviously, some Big XII Presidents feel the same way. But you guys don't even have Rutgers on your radar...

Rutgers only comes into play if ND comes which I would love to happen, then I could see UL and cinn to 14. But I think it is going to be UL and Tulane as 11 and 12, If I had to bet.

RE: Big 12 exspansion Top choices
I don't see the sense of Tulane. Sure it's in New Orleans. Tulane was also a founding member of the SEC. But it doesn't make them worthy. They reduced the emphasis on athletics at Tulane long ago, and bringing them into the Big XII does nothing for the conference that I can see...

But why leapfrog the 3rd largest DMA in the country, that's within the footprint, and where a competing (and larcenous) conference has all the market share?

If the Big 12 can nab ND, I can see going after Rutgers/NY DMA but if ND is steadfast in remaining independent then it makes sense to secure the Chicago DMA for the conference.

Go HUSKIES!

I'll tell you why, Howl-n-Prowl. Because inviting NIU doesn't get the Big XII much market penetration in Chicago. If Notre Dame were interested, it would be a different story. NIU doesn't even move the radar...
