Based on the QS ranking methodology, Houston ranks between 87-102 of American Universities, and between 51-66 of FBS schools.

I completely agree. UH is becoming a force in Houston. They outdraw Rice. LOL

Hey Coog fans, when the 30K or so coog fans arrive in Denton for the UH-UNT football game in Sept, let's gets together and have a few cold ones. We can discuss stadium construction since UNT will have just finished a stadium or we can discuss what it's like playing in C-USA once ECU/UCF leave for the BE.

Surely, UNT being in the backyard of the nations 5th largest TV market would mean that UNT along with SMU could deliver the DFW TV market for C-USA. Playing UH, SMU and Rice on a yearly basis would no doubt increase our attendance to the point we may have to play in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl until we expand the new stadium.02-13-banana

I'll be there, but I know you won't because you won't even watch them on TV. I'll probably go to at least 1 more UNT game this season. I support your school more than you do. Pitiful.

BTW: Since you were so gracious to correct UH posters about not being Tier 1, I'm sure you'll be interested in this article.

"House Higher Education Chairman Dan Branch, R-Dallas, recently announced on the House floor which of the state's seven emerging research universities would be the first to meet the state's criteria (established by a bill he authored in 2009) for classification as a national research — or tier one — university: the University of Houston."

It's not official. We're not there yet. But the Education Chair has already said we'll be first, ahead of TT. It's a matter of time.

And I can see why you wouldn't want to post your Coogfans screen name. Afraid you'll get banned again. I'm curious if you're one of the negative posters or posters of false rumors there. But I noticed you didn't answer why you use multiple screen names. Does anyone on this board trust someone who uses multiple screen names?

You also posted that Rhoades begged fans to come to games so UH must be pitiful. "That's a fact." Another fact. Bobby Knight did the same thing with Texas Tech basketball. He must be a crappy coach that was coaching at a crappy school. But the funny part is the quote "Yes, it's getting better, but trust me when I tell you that people at UH were disappointed with their lack of sellouts for a top-25 ranked team last season. " Well, we sold out the entire season in a 5-7 season with the exception of about 1k seats. I guess they must not be disappointed any longer.

Regarding the UNT thread, you totally dodged the question again. I didn't ask why you posted about UH. I asked why you were on a Sunbelt board 1) at all and 2) to talk about UNT. You said you have NO interest in UNT. If you have NO interest in UNT, why go on a Sunbelt board which must be even less interesting to you than a UNT board that you said you do not go on? Were you on a Sunbelt board just because there was a UH thread on it? Are you so pitiful that you search ncaabbs for "Houston" and go there just to speak negatively of UH? How did you know that the thread was there? I didn't even know there was a Sun Belt board until I saw that you posted there. And I DO go on the UNT board.

Look my favorite friend who doesn't know when to quit.

Even though, I don't give 2 cruds about UNT, I will be at the UH-UNT game. I want to see the new stadium once it is completed. After that, I have no use for UNT. UNT is a commuter school with very little support much like another school in the State of Texas that shall remain nameless. If you want to go to more UNT games, more power to you. I'm sure they will appreciate it.

And WTH, do you keep bringing Texas Tech into this. Here in Texas there is little bit of difference in begging your fans to show up for a football game as opposed to a basketball game. Heck even the A&M basketball coach called out the Aggie fans this past season because their fans didn't show up for a mid-week game against Iowa St and the Aggies were in the Top 25. Get it dude. Do you comprehend the difference? In Texas, if you are a major University, you shouldn't have to beg your fans to come to a football game. Mack brown doesn't beg UT fans to show up. Mike Sherman doesn't beg Aggie fans to show up. Art Briles doesn't beg Baylor fans to show up. Tommy Tuberville doesn't beg Red Raider fans to show up. Do you get it? So please leave Texas Tech out of this discussion because they are light years ahead of UH. Even though they are firmly attached to backside of UT, they aren't begging a conference for BCS admission.

As for the Tier 1 update, how can you be that close when the final criteria hasn't been outlined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board?

Also if you look at another article in the same magazine you are referencing, you will see that UH is likely going to finish in 1st place for Tier 1. Likely being the key word.

Quote:Of the seven contenders, designated as "emerging research universities," the two that are expected to pull in first are the University of Houston and Texas Tech University, likely in that order according to the discussion on the House floor.

So before you start foaming at the mouth, just remember nothing is final yet.

Mack most definitely WAS begging fans to show up as early as October last year.

Longhorns are the most fair weather fans in this state. One little bump in the road and they are off the wagon and acting like they were never on it ever. Buddy of mine is a great example. Jumped on the wagon in 05, rode it hard until this year and then had the nerve to say "oh you know, I've always been more of a basketball fan".

Why is this a problem? Isn't this what an athletic director supposed to do? I think to only way this is an issue, is that even after doing all this, attendance did not increase.

JMO was implying that the big Texas football programs don't have to beg fans to attend their football games. I merely pointed out that isn't true. UH struggles mightily with attendance when they aren't doing well but so do almost all the other programs, including Texas. Heck, during their 12 years of mediocrity before Brown showed up, they were giving tickets away on 6th street on game days and STILL no one went to their games.

I don’t go to UCF or ECU boards because I don’t live in Florida or North Carolina. I live in Texas and for the most part read Texags, ShaggyBevo, Hornfans, Raiderpower, SoonerFans, Orangepower( Oklahoma St Board) Baylorfans, KillerFrogs and Coogfans. I didn’t post the Justice tweet because even your own fans are skeptical about the announcement. That thread is up to 4 pages with fans saying they will believe the stadium deal once the press conference happens. Congrats on congratulating ECU & UCF. They deserve it.

You must get laid a lot!

Well obviously I got it once since I have a kid.02-13-banana02-13-banana02-13-banana Good way for the 1st time poster to deflect away from the real issue at hand. 1st time posters do that when they are losing the battle. They post some crap and then run.

FTR, between having a kid, going back to school for a 2nd degree and reading message boards, I have been well taken care of by the wifey.
