We will have tough decisions to make if we get left behind again.

And you can almost bet the house...ECU will not be going anywhere. It just is not in the cards at this time. Regardless..We will be fine.04-cheers

If this does happen, that UCF joins the BE and ECU doesn't, I hope the series will continue at least occasionally (as I hope UCF-Marshall continues off and on). The internet bad blood aside, I think ECU is a good program and would be my choice to join the BE along with us.

You know...When the "super conference" stuff finally shakes out...There are going to be a few schools left out in the cold. I fully expect that ECU will be one of them. When that happens...I expect to see the price of scheduling teams like ECU for OOC play to jump astronomically. Nothing would please me more than to see the "have nots" simply gouge the hell out of the "haves"...BCS schools can only play a limited number of lower division opponents and remain in the BCS. Maybe those that are left will just join together and use the rules to set up their own little syndicate.04-cheers

Well i doubt it's gonna go to high cuz if you think they can just triple the rate you would loose out
1. they would go to like 10 or 11 confrence games
2. they would schedule other BCS schools h@h cheaper then non aq schools
Then you will be playing alot of fcs schools on your schedule

You make good points..but..are you typing on your Iphone?

I was hoping for Kansas, Kansas St., and Missouri.

I'll take TCU and UCF/ECU for now but would love to add Kansas because its a national brand that you can't say no to.

One thing that I know about the folks who lead the BE is that they do not react from panic. Every move they have ever made regarding expansion, has always been slow, deliberate and cautious. I would be surprised if this one bad season is the reason they are looking to make moves now.

I believe it is a combination of things-this horrid season being one of them. The BCS bid is threatened. Expansion is looming from the other BCS conferences. Schedules are getting harder to set up. Revenues are growing tremendously for other league.

Wrong. I consistently hated the idea of Memphis joining the BE from the very beginning. The only people that were on board were a few who lost their marbles for a moment and were hoping to reunite with an "old friend". Cooler heads are now prevailing, and the majority on here now realize that Memphis will NEVER be able to play the quality of football that the BE conf truly needs. The BE is not the Dept of Welfare...
Wrong? You are wrong. I read this board almost daily and MOST were in favor. This is just your opinion. It is obvious your disgust for Memphis which is your opinion. I think it is funny that to make you feel better about yourself you have to position yourself in an arrogant posture towards other schools. 9 out of 10 of your posts are cutting down other people or schools. Just keep in mind the exact "below you" way you view my school is the same way the 5 other BCS conferences view your beloved Pitt Panthers. I don't think I would be too cocky.

Now now Miko be nice......it could be Christmas Eve for all of us here and some since of where the conference is going could be revealed...play nice and friendly

Some (certainly not all) of you guys act like you are God's gift to college football conferences. What I find funny is that not one of your stinking programs is even ranked in a poll right now! Get over yourselves. You are the weakest BCS conference. Count it a blessing other schools want to join your nice conference. I certainly am a fan of your conference, but some of you need a reality check of where you stand in the big scheme of things.

It is called a NO Lose situation......I fully expect Nova to make the jump...If they don't....The BE members should get together and throw their asses out of the neighborhood on their ungrateful heads.03-lmfao

I wish Memphis was in a position to be included. I would prefer the Tigers to Houston, except....for whatever reason the Memphis administration has failed their fans it appears to an outsider.

The day UofL and UC were invited to the BE was the day Memphis needed to do WHATEVER was required to place themselves in the position that at the next expansion there would be no question but that Memphis was the first team to be picked.

UM has potentially great fan support; why did the AD and school prez agree to a renovation of the old LB? - they needed to demand a new stadium. Why didn't they hire a GREAT FB coach to create a strong program with a national identity? Why didn't UM play on any ESPN network any day of the week to get exposure?

The list of things UofL did in prep of expansion was endless. With the fan support UM can count on, sitting on hands by your AD is hard to imagine.

In the end, if Memphis is excluded I would be REALLY angry at the AD and school prez - there was no doubt this day was coming. Can't blame anyone else for this; can't blame the BE.

Too bad. I would like Memphis in.

Is that really true? North Carolina might have the best college basketball fans in the country, but I don't know if it's really the best recruiting ground. NYC and Chicago have produced a disproportionate share of basketball stars over the past 30 years, and other large urban areas (LA, DC, Philly, Detroit) are close behind. Out of the "smaller" states with lots of college basketball fans, Indiana seems to be an unusually fertile basketball recruiting ground compared to its overall population.

I'll take the alltime North Carolina prep basketball team and drag NYC and Chicago combined. Hell throw in the rest of NY and IL as well. My list doesnt even include Prep school guys like Tracey McGrady that played at Mt. Zion. Marovich technically from WV, but played his HS ball at Broughton in Raleigh.

PG-Pete Marovich/Chris Paul/Phil Ford/John Wall
SG-Michael Jordan/Jerry Stackhouse
SF-Dominique Wilkins/David Thompson/Walter Davis
PF-James Worthy/David West/Rodney Rogers
C-Walt Bellamy/Brad Dougherty/Bob Macadoo

Other notables
PG-Bobby Jackson
SG-Gerald Wilkins
SG-Blue Edwards
PF-Todd Fuller
PG-Darrell Armstrong
SG-Henry Bibby
PF-Danny Manning
C-Tom Burleson
G-Sleepy Floyd
SF-Josh Howard
F-Sam Jones
G/F-Lou Hudson
F-Cedrick Maxwell
PG-Eric Maynor
C-Brendan Haywood
G/F-Rashad Mccants
G-Nate MacMillan
F-Shavlik Randolph

I could go on and on.

Don't get me started on our AD. I'll just leave it at I'm not a fan and think he has no vision.

The day UofL and UC were invited to the BE was the day Memphis needed to do WHATEVER was required to place themselves in the position that at the next expansion there would be no question but that Memphis was the first team to be picked.

See my past comment.

UM has potentially great fan support; why did the AD and school prez agree to a renovation of the old LB? - they needed to demand a new stadium.

I'm not privy to all the discussions, but I'm willing to bet a month's salary there were more than a few political considerations/pressures that forced the University's hand.

Why didn't they hire a GREAT FB coach to create a strong program with a national identity?

After Tommy West's rant, I'm not sure we could have gone out and hired anyone on any list. See my first comment.

Why didn't UM play on any ESPN network any day of the week to get exposure?

You only get those if you win enough to be interesting...and in the last 4-1/2 years, we haven't done that. (although we did have two bowl appearances in that span)

The list of things UofL did in prep of expansion was endless. With the fan support UM can count on, sitting on hands by your AD is hard to imagine.

Can we borrow Jurich for a few years? Maybe you guys can give his successor a few practice years. 04-deal

In the end, if Memphis is excluded I would be REALLY angry at the AD and school prez - there was no doubt this day was coming. Can't blame anyone else for this; can't blame the BE.

If the BE expands and we're not in, RC Johnson should be escorted out of the building the following morning. The way he allowed football to decline by putting up with continued mediocrity is simple inexcusable. I believe RCJ is a short-timer anyway, but I don't think we're making his time short enough.

Too bad. I would like Memphis in.

I would like to be in...but I refuse to hold my breath or even be optimistic about it.

See my comments in red.

Despite all that, I still think we do have something to offer...but it's pathetic that our football has sunk to the level it has when everyone knew this day was coming. I know there were a lot of advanced conversations between us and the BE in recent years...I hope that still means something, but I'm not holding my breath.
