'I’m Going to Kill More Cops Soon': Undocumented Immigrant Said and Smiled
Quote:Luis Bracamontes showed no remorse as a California jury convicted him in the 2014 slayings of Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Sheriff’s Detective Michael Davis Jr.
The New York Daily News reported he was also found guilty of other crimes, including attempted murder, carjacking and weapons violations.
After the guilty verdict was handed down, Bracamontes reportedly said, “Yay,” and smiled.
“I’m going to kill more cops soon," he said as he was escorted out of the chamber.
The Sacramento Bee reported that after the verdict was delivered, he also looked at the families of the slain officers and said, “Congratulations.”
This isn't the first time Bracamontes has had a cheerful outburst in the courtroom, and his previous comments were used in a campaign video for President Donald Trump's re-election.
“There really is no closure; nothing will bring Danny back,” Sacramento Sheriff Scott Jones told the Miami Herald after the verdict was read.
The New York Daily News reported that prosecutors are pushing for the death penalty and Bracamontes has also requested to be executed.
His wife is also on trial and awaiting a verdict from a separate jury. According to the Miami Herald, if she's convicted of aiding him, she could be sentenced from 25 years to life in prison.
