The ball has a habit of sticking on the perimeter and that just simply can't happen against the zone... But of course it did all night. Eastern's length on perimeter definitely contributed to that and our lack of length on the perimeter didn't help but still you gotta move the ball to beat the zone.

I was also massively underwhelmed with our plan to get De La Rosa the ball. We threw it over the top of Thompson to him for a bucket early then I don't think he scored another fg. He should've been down on the low block trying to get behind the zone as it shifts instead they tried to use him in the mid range to initiate the offense. Emu was even giving us fits just getting the ball to him there. The only time it looked good was when Duling was playing off him and AD was finding him on cuts around the basket. Duling did a really good job of getting lost in the zone tonight which is really encouraging.

One of the most frustrating plays of the night was when the late turnover in front of the bench where Avery tried to throw it to AD out by the three point arc and it got knocked away and stolen. That was out of a timeout and Avery held the ball, stared down AD the lobbed a high risk low reward pass to our 7 footer outside the arc. Not sure what the end game was going to be, but if you really want to get it to him there then run some kind of motion don't just assume you can dribble up, lock on to him, and lob it to him. That can't happen... Especially out of a timeout.

Good read. I was able to listen to the better part of it, but not watch. In the past I remember some good offensive execution against zones from BG and Eastern. This was not the time to lay an egg.

That said (and agreed with) ... Kent still had its chances.

Just looking at the season-long box scores a few things stand out ... Kent struggles to win when one of its starters (Zabo/Pippen vs. BG Zabo vs.EMU) fail to produce ... just not enough from the bench to make up for it.

Turnovers (+12/13 or more) are too much for this team to overcome.

Starters, when all click together, seem to be a Top 4 unit in the MAC. Most 4/5 return next season with two transfers sitting and a couple of recruits signed. Perhaps Kent just has to make it through this season, then regroup?
Good analysis - bench is weak!!!! As discussed of late we have to be careful of expectations on transfers - at the very least we should be wining a home - we have a bundle of road games left and Buffalo will be ready for payback. I see much youth around the MAC and many teams could improve - Akron has transfers sitting out as well - but as we saw with Miami last year teams can lose players too.
