While it is true that the biggest question mark coming into the season was the quarterback position, it is also true that ODU was picked to be among the front runners in the conference with many thinking they could make it to the conference championship game. They had just come off of a 10-3 season with most of the starters returning. Now ODU is coming off of a 5-7 season with most of the starters returning. Are the guys returning better than the 5-7 record that they just achieved, or can we expect to see the same players miss tackles and drop passes like they did this season? Injuries are always going to happen so we can count on having our fair share of those again next season too. Should we be more optimistic about next season than we were this season since we have a sophomore QB this time around? What if he is the one that gets injured?

You aren't winning anything without a QB. If Williams plays well next year, we will compete for the conference. If he sucks, we won't. Thats the nature of QB play at this level. (Unless you have an absolute stacked roster, which doesn't happen often).

Yeah, that all pretty much goes without saying.

Edit: Just one thing to add though ... Williams wasn't the first choice to start this season. In fact he wasn't even the second choice. He fell into it after the play of the first two were observed. Who is to say that some new face won't surpass Williams for one reason or another next season?
