RE: Rockets Head to Mount Pleasant to Battle Central Michigan
not feeling like they will make much of a statement - but I did see a lot of improvement on defense. I watched #13 Hollman a lot. He shut down EMU's best receiver all game. He only got his receptions when they moved him to the other side and he was picked up by #6 Trevon Mathis. Hollman is one helluva cover guy. He plays a press defense on the receivers and is rarely out of position. The d-line is doing a much better job of pressuring the QB and the LB's are pretty good against the run. What we got burned on was the throwbacks to the strong side where we were constantly out of position and gave up some sizable gains. I also do not understand still why we have a safety dropping 15 yards off the scrimmage and then backpedaling as soon as the ball is snapped - and often before it is snapped. Every time we did that, he was still not in position for a deep throw - which was targeted to the opposite side from what he was on. It's stuff like that I just don't understand, but have to believe the dc sees something that indicates a deep pass over the middle or to the left side. We are either forcing them to audible, or we had no clue...
