I was walking past a hospital's small waiting area with a TV and no one there. I saw smoke coming from the first tower and just then came the second one. That eliminated any doubt as to the nature of the issue as it at first seemed like an accident. The days afterward with no aircraft flying seemed eerie. The Kennedy assassination, Reagan's assassination attempt, the space shuttle explosion, and 9/11 are forever etched into my memory in terms of stark memory of where I was and who I was with at those moments.

I also remember telling our 10 year old boy that we'd be going to war. He was terrified. Little did I know that 16 years later we'd still be at war. It has become perpetual it seems.
