SMU is the real deal this season. Sutton is a 1st round draft pick. Don't be too surprised if SMU puts a scare in TCU next weekend. Over on the AAC board, many posters placed SMU 1st in their power rankings.

I know we are only 2 games into the season, but the early signs point to North Texas having a very potent offense, averaging 328 passing yards per game (16th in the nation), and 252 yards rushing per game (20th in the nation). Those numbers place North Texas at 9th in the nation in Total Offense, and 15th in Scoring Offense, with an average of 45.5 points per game. So far, Mason Fine has been the best passer from our conference (424 passing yards in the loss to SMU), and Jeffery Wilson has been the best rusher (averaging 106 yards a game). And, although SMU whipped up badly last night (Thank goodness we don't have to face Courtland Sutton ever again), I believe we will have one of the better defenses in the conference too. Yes, it is still early, but North Texas could contend for the West this season.
You identify the best passer based on total yards? And you reference it in a game you lost in? That kinda doesn't help your position. But there is more to a passer than total yards. I for one would start with completion percentage which doesn't put Fine on top in conference. Don't get me wrong, he's a decent QB, but your claim is kinda far fetched based on total passing yards.

I agree, one category does not show the whole picture. But my claim isn't based on just one stat. That is just the stat I used in a larger explanation of our offense. Fine leads all C-USA QBs in total passing yards (648 per game), yards per attempt (9.5 yards per pass), and touchdowns (6 TDs). Right now, Fines combined numbers are better then any others in C-USA.

648 per game!! Wow! You is gonna kill us all!

Ha! Fixed it (324 yards per game). Sometimes I type too fast and don't review.

Regardless, 324 yards per game still leads all other QBs in our conference at the moment.
