MEMPHIS has certainly endured painful, humiliating beatdowns of this magnitude. I almost gave up on football when Arkansas State smoked MEMPHIS 47-3 in Porter's disastrous final season (2011).

It is just mindboggling to see ECU fall this far this fast. Stay loyal, ECU fans. This too shall pass.

Every fan base has fair weather fans. ECU is not exempt from it. Those of us with families that have multiple generations of graduates and have followed the program for 60+ plus years are not suddenly going to put a fcking bag on our heads and make fools of ourselves. We will be there pulling for the kids...win or lose. Every program has ups and downs. My father graduated in 1957. He can tell you of MUCH worse than we are experiencing now. I guess people just don't know our history.

Modern kids don't have patience. It's why so many teams play in front of half-empty crowds, even at big time programs. These fickle people are the future donors of athletic programs.
Or maybe average kids incurring debt to go to college aren't enamored with prima donnas that are in college because because they can play football getting a pampered free ride.
Amen brother.

This is always a topic that spurs an emotional response. I was a PC chapter president for about 10 years. I can tell you that the football program is a major deal at most universities. It is a researched fact that the boosters of the football programs and athletics in general are also the boosters of the universities as a whole. Athletics tend to be the catalyst that drives graduates to donate back to the school in other ways through alumni associations and University foundations. Lets keep in mind also that much of the scholarship dollar for athletics is privately donated through booster clubs like the Pirate Club at ECU. The entire University benefits from this...not just the Athletic programs.
