It just wasn't a great idea.

It would be a good idea and an entertaining watch, if they had the right to show live look-ins on every CFB game and they focused it properly.

In the hypothetical world in which they can show part of any CFB game on Goal Line, you pick the 6 to 8 games in each broadcast window that have the most interest. No more than that. Trying to catch parts of 20 games at once, or trying to be all things to all people, is not the way to go. You have producers watching each of those 6-8 games and switching back and forth to capture as many interesting moments as possible -- like RedZone, which also has only about 6-8 games in each window to deal with.

Thing is, they have the entire ABC/ESPN/2/U/News/3/SECN/LHN stable PLUS AAC and MAC content on CBS Sports and have the rights to some of the stuff that has been subbed out to regional sports nets.

That's obviously not the entire universe and there would be times they would be missing out.

I don't think ESPN has the leadership to pull it off even if they had universal access.

ESPN is no longer a growth company, they are a mature company in a mature market and rapidly becoming more like a utility stock than a fresh off IPO hot tech stock. The suits are going to be telling the editors we want X minutes of this and that based on their market studies and ratings.

You need people willing to do something unexpected like cut-in to an obscure Division III game over an Alabama possession against an FCS or show a run by Bethune-Cookman's Tupac Isme just because the kid has a cool name.

ESPN isn't that company anymore.
