This was before compact discs took over the scene but I believe there was a place called Wizard's near Short Vine and Moe's (used albums) on Short Vine. There was one more place on Calhoun St. (used) but the name escapes me right now.

Man that takes me back. I was a regular in all of the Clifton record shops back then. Mole's was on short vine close to Bogart's. Wizard was on Calhoun. First location was across the street from Calhoun hall. That place turned into a restaurant and they moved east close to the Falafel place (Dionysus). The Culture 7 somebody mentioned was mostly new stuff as I recall and was on a street off of short Vine (Charlton or maybe Daniels).

I too saw Burning Spear at Ripleys. Great show. Years later I saw him at a dive place on Kellogg whose name escapes me (Annie's ?). I loved (and still do) me some reggae! I think the name Culture 7 of the record store came from a reggae album by Cluture - Two 7's Clash.

I lived in Clifton from fall 1971 through fall 1992 with a 2 year break working down south. It was a great place to live then. A real college vibe. Now, it's pretty much like they dropped the 'burbs onto Calhoun St. Thank god for Fries!
