I think the difference between a school like UNCW or Gonzaga and South Carolina is South Carolina plays SEC football. They've got plenty of publicity already. Sure, the Final Four run might help, but proportionally it's no where near what I'd imagine the VCU or Butler Final Four runs had.
That's a solid argument. I wonder if the Final Four run had a greater impact on the university than a few solid years in football, and the media sensation of Clowney. I imagine that their run in basketball is slightly more significant, but I'm not certain it is. Clowney's hit against Michigan was a New Year's Day game and his hit has 1.6 million views on Youtube.
