"Madison" and the "M" is utilized in the white and purple jerseys, and I believe the black jersey as well. I actually like the jerseys we have but would think they would redo it in lieu of the new brand rework.

If this is true, do they auction the jerseys, especially the championship game jerseys with the Championship Game patches? I think that would be a nice little fundraiser toward getting the new jerseys we would need OR put it toward the field redo... (need to replace the endzone from "Madison" to "James Madison" and the Duke Dog at midfield is also currently out of compliance.

Does JMU have to buy new unis? Anyone know the terms of JMU's deal with Nike? A lot of schools get the unis for free, and some of the FBS schools get lots of cash on top of that.

I would have to guess the only schools that get the completely free unis are the typical P5 powerhouses (Alabama, Clemson, Oregon, etc.) . While I'm sure Nike incentivizes schools like JMU with gear here and there, the majority of the uniform costs are paid directly by the athletic program.

The P5 powerhouses get the unis free plus millions in other product and cash money! Rutgers (nowhere close to being a powerhouse) had a deal with Nike worth $5.2 million, which included unis for all varsity sports plus $130k in cash per year, back when RU was in the lowly Big East/AAC. They're expecting a lot more in the next deal, based on being in the Big Ten now. Cal is getting $3.5 million/year from Nike. Ohio State is in the 2nd year of a 15 year deal worth $252 million in product/cash. It's just obscene at that level.

At the FCS level, I've not seen many data points. I only know SDSU has a deal with UA that covers practice and game unis for all varsity sports, but no added cash. Don't know what other FCS schools have as the terms of their contracts with suppliers. If we don't already, let's get a deal similar to that when our current contract with Nike expires.
