Rice would take less money to go to Big XII than UH would. If it comes down to that, UH would be in serious trouble. Rice still has better facilities than UH, our football stadium could handle the larger crowds the Big XII would bring, so the revenue would be there from game-day sales. Therefore, we could afford to take less money and leave the BigXII schools with more of the windfall to divide amongst themselves.

UH is about at its ceiling right now. Good for them, but they are as likely to topple down as up. Rice, after being at the bottom for almost 40 years, has nowhere to go but up, and it is finally just starting to tap into some of its potential.

Plus, I believe you will hear of our Men's basketball team with coach Mike Rhoades (formerly top assistant under Shaka Smart at VCU) this year. He has a bevy of solid recruits who are starting to gel, as well as the top freshman (now sophomore) scorer in the entire US last season in Marcus Evans:
