Tulsa Politics
I followed the mayors election process very closely this year. I'm always concerned how a new mayor or new council will have on all us TU fans/alums as far as sports is concerned.

This years local primary was sort of a wash IMO - an election between incumbent Dewey Bartlett and councilor GT Bynum both Republicans but both with extensive Tulsa roots. Winner Bynum seems to have the pedigree to be pro-TU since his relatives Bob Lafortune, Bill Lafortune have attended TU and the LaFortune family also had a recent player on the FB team - Center Billy Lafortune. (Bynum attended Vilanova). So as it turned out, TU came out of the election fine, but probably would have been good either way. I have seen Bartlett at some TU events before even though he attended SMU.

So it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Will TU become more of a focal point in the city now since it provides Tulsa with a tremendous amount of free publicity and notoriety? Will GT Bynum fast-track Tulsa/TU sports infrastructure in the same way past city govts have? Stay tuned.

A bigger, better TU is vital for the city and region. So good luck GT, we'll be anxiously watching.
