Safety Joshua Perry decommited from Alabama yesterday after condsidering being "Greyshirted" by Alabama (Is that their word for Redshirted??). Signs with MEMPHIS this am.

Greyshirting is essentially asking a player to walk on (no scholarship) with the intention that a scholarship will be offered at some point in the future.

The intention is that the player enrolls in the spring instead of the fall... Meaning his 5 year eligibility (of which he can play 4) starts the following season. This allows teams like Alabama to hold onto a recruit (or not, in this case) while not using up one of their available scholarships this year.

And they can still redshirt them after a grey shirt.
