Offensive Identity Part II
I think our last game showed we are not going to have success offensively against the top power 5 schools by trying to ground and pound them. Unfortunately, we don't have Michael Turner on this year's team. I love Bougie but he's not Michael Turner. I'm afraid if we employ the same offensive strategy against BC we'll suffer the same fate as last week. I don't think BC will have to commit an extra defender to the line of scrimmage and we can't have our receivers running a simple run to a spot and stop patterns that are so easy to diagnose. BC will learn a lot from our last tape. Again, we really need to get the ball quickly to our playmakers: Golladay, TLL, Turner, Brescacin, Beebee, and our TEs. I was disappointed that our TEs were only targeted once last game -- bubble to Maxwell. We know how successful the bubbles were... Why can't we use the TEs to give our QB an easy target over the middle like so many other teams do? Max and Wimann are big targets, run well and catch well. I'd like to see our offensive coaches come up with creative ways to get the ball quickly to our playmakers. Give Hare a chance to get in a rhythm and have a lot of success. And practice our middle screens. If it's more of the same from last week, I'm afraid we will come up short against BC.
