6-6 = keeps his job
5-7 = fired
???
6-6 buys another year.
4-8 Fired, no questions asked
5-7 depends on how much progress is being shown. If offense still sucks and this up temp spread doesn't take hold, he's gone. If, however, on the other hand, USF offense takes off, and they just miss out on bowl eligibility by a hair, then maybe he gets another year.
I personally wanted Taggart gone at end of last year, and I made that clear. However, I do believe he will get to 6 or 7 wins this year. He's just brought in too much sheer talent not to improve. At the very least, the next coach will have some pieces to work with. I am also going to go out on a big limb and say Quinton Flowers will be one of, if not the, surprise players in AAC this year.
The same quinton flowers that completed 40% of his passes for 0 tds and 2 int's? I watched him play in a few games last year and was not impressed at all. And now he has to learn and play in a completely new offense. Just don't see it happening next year for the school to the west. Maybe if there was a proven coaching staff that knew how to develop players and win but that's not the case. But hey, that's why we play the games. There's a difference between recruiting talent and winning. Look at uf. I think 5 wins is the best case scenario for usf next year.
He hardly got any playing time last year, he was a true freshman trying to play an offense that doesn't suit him and is hard to learn, and his brother just died.
By all accounts he grew by leaps and bounds this spring when the new spread offense was installed.
