Really, that was stated that he was the heir apparent? Now, it makes sense that if you hired another commissioner to come in then somehow the commissioner position is tied into that otherwise he wouldn't take a step down. He would have taken a step down with the promise of a major step up in the future.

There was never such an announcement but it was widely known that Slive promised he would lobby for Sankey to get the job when he retired.
