Wouldn't be the first time a young person showed adept ability to lead a ship's crew.

It doesn't matter if she did a good job or not. She failed to inform the Commodore that the COWPENS' Captain was down hard and the ship was without an appointed XO. As such, she failed in her job as a commissioned officer of following the regs. Besides she was qualifying people at TAO and OOD during the two month she was the acting Captain, which she in no way is authorized to do.

What she did was throw away her chance at being a good CO by not keeping her superiors abreast of the situation while she was in change.

And I can't believe the rest of the Chief Mess and Wardroom just went along with this.
