They had no business winning that game at all except for home cooking.

They deserved to win in Memphis, and we deserved to win in Connecticut.

I don't blame them for taking a gift, but I see no reason to congratulate them.

Wow, you really nailed that one! It's all one gigantic conspiracy against Memphis (State)! For reals, yo!!!!!!!

I've been told this many times - "If you need to complain about the refs, you had no business winning the game."

Exactly, we were up 69-66 with maybe 50 seconds to go, Napier missed a 3 and all we had to do was get the rebound and we could ice it at the line. Yeah there were some bad calls (saving balls from out of bounds) but we still should have pulled down that board and won the game.

That missed call on the Kromah save was offset by Goodwin jumping from out of bounds to knock the ball off of Nolan with 2:38 left in regulation.

I went back and watched the entire game, slowing down the game often when there were plays in traffic. My take away was that there were a few tough calls against Memphis, in particular Johnson, who's 4th and 5th calls were tough.

I also wouldn't have called the freedom of movement whistles when Memphis was hip checking or sticking a leg out to prevent curl penetration.

For the most part though, I thought the foul disparity was indicative of the way the game was played. Memphis did most of its damage on jumpers and uncontested rim runs (which is why they shot in the 50's). When Uconn got to the rim, usually in transition, Memphis gave up the foul to protect the basket. They also did this on offensive rebound scenarios for UConn. Actually appeared strategic and coached to me.

Even with the huge disparity, Goodwin got away with a lot in the first half. He get's Daniels on the elbow on his first attempt preventing the follow through (crafty foul I'll let him pass on). He leaves his feet and verticality to challenge Daniels on his 2nd attempt and makes body contact. And later in the first half he has Brimah's off arm hooked and holding it down while Amida tries to rebound the ball with his off hand. In the 2nd half Goodwin's 1st "give me that sh*t" block was all arm on Daniels.

I know the general consensus on the Memphis board has been that UConn forced turnovers with reaching fouls. But if you go back and watch the game in slow motion, Nichols and Goodwin repeatedly exposed the ball and as objective as I can be I really didn't see illegal contact in the strips. Half the steals in the game were uconn players jumping passing lanes.

The reaction on the Memphis board was so universal and angry that I had to go back and watch the game to make sure uconn won it on its own merits to feel good about it. After watching the game, I do.

Not expecting to change anyone's opinions, but felt if I went through the trouble, I might as well share.
