Because unlike Boone, NC or Statesboro, GA, Las Cruces is very easy to get to. Direct flight to El Paso, 50 minutes later there you are. AND we have a long and very good history with NMSU. AND NMSU is FBS. AND they are the Land Grant Flagship for their state.

We can't get to Boone or Statesboro without either or both of indirect flights and two hour or more bus trips.

As to SHSU and Lamar, we have spent the last 40 years getting away from them; that ain't changing now.
You know that's not so. App State and GaSo posters have covered this time after time. Benson flew from Savannah to Hickory yesterday, then took about a thirty minutes drive to Boone with about eight inches of snow on the ground.
