RE: CUSA--New Conference, What would you do...

The Big XII should be blowing Tulsa's new AD's phone up trying to get them in. I hope that all the new additions to Conference USA will stay with us for at least 2 or 3 years, and if a bigger conference comes calling, by all means, seize the brass ring.
UAB is the victim of bureaucratic and political BS keeping them from expanding their horizons in athletic endeavors (see UA board of trustees)...Marshall, I would think , is not "shackled" by such hindrances and would be a strong addition to a so-called larger conference. But, I'm glad you're in Conference USA until that call comes your way.
When I was younger I used to dream about Marshall playing in the BE. Of course that was when they had Miami, VA Tech, BC, and others.
But now I just turned 41 and have come to terms where Marshall will be in the scheme of college athletics and Im fine with that. I know Marshall will never be in the ACC, SEC, B10 and def not the B12 with the Who there.
Some sort of variation of CUSA is most likely where Marshall will be for years to come, and Im totally fine with that. I like most of the new adds and hope the others will grow into a good conference fit.
Marshall may not have the big obsticale of having to go though big brothers BOT. But if things have to go through the state its hard to get anything through cause its littered with WHO grads. Im suprised they allowed our new physical theorpy degree, it's the only one in the state of WV.
When the CAM was built in 1980, it was built because Marshall had enough friends in the state house at the time to block Mountian 'Err Field. After they granted the CAM the state then funneled 3.5 million away from it and the 1st architecture firm walked off of the job. The CAM was suppose to be 12,500 seats and about 2 times bigger than what it is right now. Same size as the Charleston Civic Center. That 3.5 million dollars was funneled to Err Field.
