“I don’t think anybody, in the purest of sport, would think that would be a good thing.”
But "purity" is an absolutely foreign word to college football.
TV both made and is ruining college football. Brought in great revenues, but now the tail is wagging the dog. What you'll have is potentially eight teams from four conferences playing for the national championship every year. Sad that everything is controlled by "big money", but that's life. Maybe that's always the way it's been, but we average folks are just beginning to understand how the system works. When tickets to college football games are $50-$100 dollars, there's something wrong with the system. But as long as people are willing to pay these crazy prices, I guess things will continue to go along as they are. Wonder how much tickets cost in Rome when the Christians played the Lions?
Guess only rich folks could afford them.
