This might be the real reason he left Ole Miss. hard to be taken seriously after that.
I don't know man, after:
I didn't think Bruce Pearl would ever be taken seriously again, but now everyone wants him, even the FBI.
That picture was Coach Pearl showing support for Pat Summit's WBB team by leading cheers at a UTK WBB home game. It endeared him to WBB fans of UTK and perhaps WBB fans in general. There are not many MBB coaches who would do what he did for their school's WBB team.

Both Pearl and Johnson are having improved results in their programs - Pearl more than Johnson so far. That is a fact UAB is faced with as it struggles to find its way in this state's markets. There is plenty of opportunity for all instate programs if they can show the success to claim it. Pearl and Johnson are not UAB's problem right now any more than Malzohn and Saban are Clark's problem. Being pro UAB does not have to mean being anti anyone else - especially when we don't play them.

We are recruiting directly against Alabama and Auburn. Them being good does not help us in the slightest bit. Go look at their rosters and see how many of their players were heavily recruited by UAB.

That simply isn't true. Unlike in football, UAB often goes head to head with Bama & Auburn for major in state players and even other players in the southeast.
At Bama we recruited Alex Reese, Dazon Ingram, Galin Smith, Riley Norris, and Herb Jones. We recruited one of their signees, Diante Wood, as well.
At Auburn we recruited Jared Harper and Mitchell I believe.
On the flip side, Bama and Auburn both recruited William Lee.

We really are not competing against those 2 teams for players. UAT wanted Lee but nobody else on our roster were offered by either team.
I guess UAT has 3-4 guys that we wanted but they probably were not realistic prospects for us.
We don't have to beat out players against those teams to win CUSA. And we are not even close to winning CUSA.
Our best player was not offered by either of them.
One team that could affect us in the future is USA. They should have changed coaches last year. they almost certainly will for next year and the new guy may be after the same guys we are.
And we may be able to get a transfer or two from Auburn when Pearl is fired and they get probation again.

Your numbers don't exactly reassure UAB fans that we "go head to head with UA or AU". You cite 7 players at UA that UAB recruited and UAB got ONE. Three are listed as wanted by both UAB and AU and UAB got that same ONE. I see that as proving what I said more than disproving it. UAB probably matched that record against Duke, UNC, UTK, LSU and other P5 teams.

Do you realize that the phrase "going head to head" does not equate with beating them out. Head to head means both schools going after the same player.
As to losing players to them, that is nothing new. They are SEC. UAB is CUSA. And it isn't a recent development. Gene Bartow lost more players to them than he got. Still doesn't change the fact that we recruit the same players in basketball.

Also the freshman forward from Georgia, Chuma Okeke...

Did you read what I wrote ? Nobody on our roster except Lee was offered by either team.
We did offer Coleman and Garrett, now at Samford & NKY.
We had interest in a Samford guard but I think we wanted him to walk on and Samford gave him a full ride. And we wanted a UAT walk on guy to walk on with us.
Historically, we have always lost players to both schools so their recent success has not hurt us anymore than usual.
Our problems the last 2 years are not anyone else's fault. We have enough talent to finish in the top 2-4 both years. Our coaching staff gets a D both years. C- last year if you want to be charitable,
