The whole institution is rotten beyond even what I thought. Paying players is nothing compared to this.
And this is different from Washington D.C. how?
Sports reflect our society.
Change has to begin somewhere. Pointing over there or over there where bad stuff happens doesn't alter the facts: as long as they can get us to cheer for the green and white or the blue and white or the little D or the little R, outrage will pile on outrage.
I never thought a university could top Penn State for utter filth and degradation. Michigan State is giving them competition.
Maybe it's time to stop cheering and start screaming.
I was merely pointing out that when Barney Frank utilized under aged male pages it apparently wasn't enough. When Monica got a stained blue dress it apparently wasn't enough. And there have been plenty of republican escapades as well especially in the House.
I'm just saying why are we acting so shocked? This corruption strikes at the soul of who we are. Laws have to be enforced without regard to personality, position, or profit. To do less is the essence of corruption.
Yet in each of these cases either a personality (Paterno, Frank, Clinton) or a position (President, Congressman, University President, Athletic Director, Head Coach), or profit of the University or Athletics Department, was placed ahead of the rights of the victims.
You suggest screaming. I'm merely saying that the screaming should have started at least 60 years ago. And it should have been followed by an organized public demanding accountability of all of its citizens, and later corporate leadership.
Hell, we even had wholesale rape of the public trust without outrage. Remember too Big to Fail?
BTW: Michigan State is going to be a combination of Penn State and Baylor. How soon we forget the Bears. This is both the institutional control of Penn State covering up crimes, and the assaults on coeds via Baylor. Only now the very institution that was so willing to punish Penn State is found to be guilty of the same crimes leveled against that school's administration. Hypocrisy knows no bounds apparently!
