MACC Annex Basketball and Volleyball Development Center
This project will renovate the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MACC) Annex space that was recently vacated by the College of Architecture and Environmental Design. A new, 10,000 square foot multi-sport development center with multiple practice court configurations will be built to support Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Volleyball programs. The space will utilize a new athletic wood floor to match the performance characteristics of the competition court in the MAC Center. The development center will be fully enclosed with wall partitions to deck to provide acoustic privacy for the teams and surrounding academic areas, but will encourage visual connections, through glass openings, to promote a sense of pride and excitement in the University’s athletic teams. The project also includes lighting modifications and the existing HVAC (heating only) system will remain. The University will also consider re-roofing and HVAC system replacement for the area of work. Until January 19, 2018, Kent State University will be accepting qualifications from Architectural and Engineering firms interested in designing this project. This General Contracting project is being managed via OAKS-CI.

Kent Campus is really starting to take shape for academics and athletics when for so many years departments have been disjointed/separated and athletic teams have had to practice @ the Recreation & Wellness Center/other venues during commencement/graduation as well as other events.

This is great news and well deserved for the 3 programs.

Fantastic news! Now let’s find an AD that can lead our basketball program and get us into a national spotlight.
