RE: Which stadiums have you been to for CFB games? Where would you like to go?
Yager Stadium (Miami) - Recent renovations have made it pretty nice, we just need some fans
Ohio Stadium (OSU) - The Shoe was neat, the ushers were annoying though since we couldn't squeeze into the band section
Michigan Stadium (Michigan) - Weirdly looks smaller on the inside, the new press boxes helped make it louder than most people think
Memorial Stadium (Illinois) - Was pre-renovation but it was during the Rose Bowl season so it was a nice atmosphere
Nippert Stadium (UC) - I'm jealous of UC for having Nippert, it's pretty damn close to being the Wrigley of college football
Paul Brown Stadium (UC for a season) - Standard pro stadium, was miserable since Miami was in the middle of our 20+ game losing streak
Faurot Field (Mizzou) - During the Big 12 days, still nice to see
Plaster Stadium (Missouri State) - Pretty bland and full of concrete, not very exciting

Neutral sites:
Edward Jones Dome (multiple Illinois-Mizzou games) - These games were rockin' back in the day
NRG Stadium (2010 Texas Bowl) - Neat to see RGIII in a bowl, though Illinois killed
Tropicana Field (2016 St. Pete Bowl) - Never mention this game again

Seen from the outside:
Kinnick Stadium (Iowa)
Camp Randall Stadium (Wisconsin)
Memorial Stadium (IU)
Memorial Stadium (KU)
Memorial Stadium (Cal)
Liberty Bowl (Memphis)
Raymond James Stadium (USF)
Astrodome (Houston)
Doyt Perry Stadium (Bowling Green)
Arrowhead Stadium (neutral)

Miami is playing at Army this fall, I'm hoping to make it to West Point for that. Was pissed I couldn't make it to Notre Dame this past season. Would love to see the Rose Bowl at some point, though I seriously doubt I'll have the chance to see Miami there...

The rest are all pretty much the same thing with a few variations outside.

Not in college football. The NFL is more like that but college football is as close to baseball in varation as you're gonna get. Then again, you're an SEC fan, so no wonder you feel that way.

Ooooookay...

What? College football has a ton of stadiums with a ton of unique features and settings. It's not the NFL or especially the NBA where they all more or less look the same.

Cincinnati (Nippert/PBS)
Miami (OH) Their old stadium and Yager Stadium
WVU
Kent State
Tennessee
Kentucky
Eastern Kentucky
Sugar Bowl New Orleans SuperDome
Orange Bowl (Dolphin Stadium)
Pontiac Silverdome
Hoosier Dome

UC opens in the Rose Bowl at UCLA next year. I would love to go see that iconic stadium but don't think I will be able to pull that off.

I would also like to see games at:

Notre Dame (walked around the outside once on vacation)
USC
Virginia Tech
ECU
UNC
NC State
Washington (I've always liked the setting)
The service academies
Any of the schools in the scenic West such as Utah, BYU, The Sun Bowl, Colorado, California, Stanford

I'm not a big fan of the mega stadiums. I suppose it would be good to go to a game at Michigan or OSU just for the experience.

If you do come out for the Army game, there is usually a cruise/boat ride up the Hudson from Manhattan to West Point. If you're planning out far enough in advance, you might want to look into it.

Fixed. Baby steps and we’ve been behind the curve for years... Still lots of work to do...

Yeah, we’re getting there. We have been good, but we’ve been bad more than we’ve been good, to be sure.

Here’s my list, starting with Rice Stadium, and some of the memorable games and good teams I’ve seen play there.

Actually I’ve been to Astrodome too, but like you I’ve never seen a college football game there. (But when I read your post that you’d been theee but “not for College Football” I figured you had gone to one of the dismal Rice/Houston games there back in the day (I don’t know what those boys are playing out there but it sure don’t look like football)

Bluebonnet Bowl at Rice Stadium (Baylor/Colorado). Most butts in seats I’ve ever seen in the place.

2008 Bayou Bucket: Rice (Clement/Dillard/Casey) beat UH (Keenum) in a division title elimination game. Rice division co-champs.

2013 Rice Tulane. Owls hold Joe Montana’s son to zero first downs through three quarters to win their second West title (eliminating Tulane in so doing -was their final CUSA game)

~1999 Rice/TCU. Owls option attack takes charge in 2Q and defense shuts down LaDanian Tomlinson to win big (42-21 or so)

Rice/Colorado State a Big win over a ranked WAC squad. They had no answer for our ground game.

2006 Rice/SMU Owls clinch first bowl berth in 40 years in wild win over Ponies (still in a 20+ bowl drought at the time themselves) winner earned N.O. Bowl bid.

1983 Rice/Southwest Texas(?). First Owls win I saw in person, we broke nation’s longest active losing streak. Northwestern, you’re in the clock. Tore down the frickin’ goal posts, too.

OTHERS...
Folsom Field (multiple times, CU games)
Kyle Field (we won the 1st Qtr)
Notre Dame (we won the 4th Qtr)
Amon Carter (Rice/TCU plus Armed Forces Rice over AF)
Darryl K Royal/Memorial
Superdome (NO Bowl)
Texans Stadium (Texas Bowl Rice over WMU)
Cotton Bowl (Rice/SMU and SMU/Arkansas)
Ford Field (SMU)

You don't need to see a game at the LA Coliseum, unless you just want to check it off your list. But you do want to see a game at the Rose Bowl.

Probably both. I watched UGA-OU, and the Rose Bowl stadium doesn't seem all that impressive, either. Just a typical oval, and only one tier.

In both cases, it's just a matter of the history, not the stadium itself. Probably how I feel about ND, too, and to some extent, Michigan and Ohio State.

Most of the ones I listed were just by happenstance on college tours during high school or other random trips (e.g. Astrodome while attending the Texas Bowl). It is pretty cool to see the variance among the big stadiums, unfortunately most of the MAC is pretty ununique in stadium design.

I was at that Rice-SMU game in 2006. That was a great college experience. The players were really excited. Everyone went down on the field. My daughter was on my shoulders high fiving the players saying, "Great game!"

Another memorable Rice Stadium game was the final SWC game in 1995. I've got the cup to prove it. We watched the end of the UT-A&M game on TV and then hustled over to Rice Stadium for the last quarter and a half. Rice let it slip away to UH at the end, 18-17.

Buffalo isn't particularly unique and its small, but its nice. I've been by Yager (my sister is a Miami alum), but I don't really remember much about it.
