MAC Hoops "Golf" Standings
My good friends from Oxford ran a thread like this on their message board a few years ago and I always looked forward to it. So as the product of a Miami Merger I will give it a shot over here to see if it catches on. The rules are simple.

A Home win or Road loss is an even Par
A Road win gets you Birdie
A Home loss is a Boogie

We will send out 2 Six-Somes and play a full 18 holes. This year's winner will take home the coveted "Beta Bell Tower Cup", which is currently on display at Bulger Hall on the campus of the University of Akron. After one hole here are the standings:

MAC East Division
Miami (-1)
Buffalo (E)
Akron (E)
Ohio U. (E)
Kent State (E)
Bowing Green (+1)

MAC West Division
Central Michigan (E)
Northern Illinois (E)
Ball State (E)
Western Michigan (E)
Toledo (E)
Eastern Michigan (E)

Please feel free to make bad golf jokes or express your general displeasure with this thread.

Also....Please feel free to update this thread anytime you want!! Just let us know how many holes we have played. All compliments can be sent directly to my email, all complaints go to Helen Waite, my loyal secretary.

I really enjoy this index every year. Interesting to observe how accurate it is by the end of the year. Thank you for doing it.

I too enjoy this and many Thanks - note some "away" courses are tougher than others - a win for us at Buffalo is more like an eagle and some home losses are double bogies -

RE: MAC Hoops "Golf" Standings
Buffalo and Ball State birdied the picturesque third hole.

MAC East Division
Buffalo (-2)
Miami (E)
Kent State (E)
Bowing Green (E)
Akron (+1)
Ohio U. (+1)

MAC West Division
Western Michigan (-1)
Central Michigan (E)
Northern Illinois (E)
Toledo (E)
Ball State (E)
Eastern Michigan (+1)

On a side note, it sounds as if the Akron fans, who traditionally stand until the Zips make their first field goal of the game, were on their feet until the 7:24 mark of their loss to Buffalo.

LOL I was told also that a bunch of fans left at halftime and soon there after. 03-lmfao

And Dambrot is 12-5 at Duquesne (3-1 in the A10) with a nice win over Dayton. I bet the Akron fans wish they had him back.

I agree with that. Because there is no doubt in my mind that coaching at the mid - major level can make all the difference.

need to pump the brakes on KD at Duq. He played his usual weak OOC, SOS of 330ish and Dayton is down this year. plus other 2 wins against GW and Fordham are close to bottom of league. 1st true test and they lost to VCU, they have yet to get into meat of A-10 play. Also looking at A-10 it seems a little down this year overall.

Bowing Green (E)
Akron (+1)
Ohio U. (+1)

MAC West Division
Western Michigan (-1)

RE: MAC Hoops "Golf" Standings
The fifth hole proved to be a bear for many teams. While Toledo and Bowling Green penciled in birdies, Akron and Northern Illinois should be ashamed of the pars that they posted.

Buffalo and Toledo lead us to six tee.

MAC East Division
Buffalo (-2)
Bowling Green (-1)
Kent State (E)
Miami (+1)
Akron (+1)
Ohio U. (+2)

MAC West Division
Toledo (-2)
Western Michigan (-1)

Ball State (E)
Eastern Michigan (+1)
Central Michigan (+1)

As we make the turn, the Bulls are still in control. But another Toledo birdie draws the Rockets to within one. Miami and Central Michigan also holed birdies on nine. It is nice to see the Bobcats losing home games and 7 of the pace!
