RE: 2017-2018 Basketball Games of Interest
When VCU and ODU play records don't matter. Its such a crazy rivalry you never know whats going to happen. Those games are rarely blowouts, even when one team is way better than the other. And most of the time, the teams are actually pretty darn close in talent, as proven by the overall records against each other. Should we have beaten them this year... heck yes. But it was on their court, and against your most fierce rival you can't expect to win on the road usually. Even when you're slightly better.

I thought so too. The late technical called against UAB; the no-call flagrant foul that should have been called against WKU...probably changed the outcome of the game.

W&M lost to Northeastern, 90 to 70. The difference was 3pt shooting. NE hit 12-19 (63%!!!), while W&M hit 5-17 (29%).

Northeastern hit a ridiculous 71% of their FG (W&M-46%).

Who would have thought CUSA would be so much better than CAA this year? Oh wait.....

The conference is rising up the ranks. Part of it is teams 2 through4 have improved but also the bottom has made some improvements.

Also, conferences ahead of us (CAA) have gone to ****. Losing Keatts (and making a terrible hire) at UNCW really hurt that league. They have no standard bearer now, and CofC (at least under their current coach) and Towson will never be that.

Yep this is true. I will say that the top 4 in CUSA are pretty damn good teams.

I could be in the minority, but I'd say the Top 4 in CUSA was much better than the CAA every year since we left, Keatts in there or not.

I haven't looked back every year, but it would not be surprising at all. The bottom 4-5 in CUSA drug down the rankings.

Don't know about the top 4. Maybe the top 1 or 2, but this is the first year since we have joined where the top was good and that deep. Last year it was MTSU and everyone else and the 2 years before to top was very mediocre to the point of getting 14 and 15 seeds. This is by far the best year the conference has had. Too bad you cannot fix the bottom half and will still likely only have 2 clear top 100 teams with ODU and UAB borderline.

This is heading to where I hoped the conference would be when we joined. There are a few more historically good teams (UNCC, UTEP, USM) that need to get it together, and this could be a very good basketball conference.

Crazy thing is those mediocre 14 and 15 seeds beat a 3 seed Iowa St and 2 seed Michigan St.
