Yep, especially when they are gassed from being on the field just about the whole game.

Our defensive is out manned and still playing great. The offense dug us too deep of a hole(s).

We wouldn't of had time for a field stretching pass play to develop. Tom Brady wouldn't have had time to throw yesterday.

Our OC called plays to keep AJ from getting hit.

He also called the same running play almost the entire first half on 1st & 2nd down w/ Brown that got maybe 2-3 yds at best leaving us behind the chains & called a short passing play on 3rd to maybe get 5-6 to only punt when Fl was stacking the box daring us to beat them passing. This should have been a day to feature other backs other than Brown early on & use passing game more. We did feature the TE a bit more & it worked but again Les never stuck w/ anything that worked or tried that much.

Ever wonder why the lesser teams use the spread formations more when playing vs dominant/talented P5 teams? Try to spread their players out in space to get more 1-1 & maybe you break for a big play.

This was a key factor in game results. UAB never was able to put pressure on the Florida QB - he had a lot of time to find receivers - while AJ was under constant pressure all game. For most of the game, any play that took more than a few seconds to develop was crushed by the opposing defense. Fortunately, Franks is not a premium QB and his receivers were not so hot either.

The old saying is that a team plays like it practices. UAB has no players with the size and with the speed they saw in that game to practice against. This is a common problem for most G5 teams when confronting the upper P5 programs. That is why these P5 teams often schedule G5 teams the week before important rivalry games.
