RE: 2017 coaching changes
Campbell does have two years experience running the bigger program but if I were to choose between him and Candle? stir the pot.... That'd be an interesting debate. Somehow in my head, Candle's personality fits my impression of Nebraska, a Tom Osbourne kind of guy and Campbell more Knute Rockne-ND.

A big challenge keeping a program at the same level with a QB change as opposed to any other position and haven't really seen anything from the backup that would say he would be in the argument with any of the last five or so QBs. Legs but haven't seen any arm on him. THAT could be a decision maker for a coach.

RE: 2017 coaching changes
I would be very surprised if Nebraska offered their job to Candle. That program will have a number of more experienced/successful choices.

Not sure what his interests are? For Campbell, it was $$$ and the fact that he fell in love with Ames, Iowa when we played there. Would Candle prefer to stay in the Midwest? Other than Iowa State if Campbell were to fall in love with someplace else, I’m not sure there will be many (good) coaching jobs open in the Midwest after this season. If he stays at UT and does continue to pump out 8 & 9 win seasons for the next couple, he could probably have the Cincy job after that; a higher profile conference and different recruiting area could then yield him offers from the ACC, SEC, Big 10 or Big 12 if he were to win the AAC down in Cincy.

One thing I know for certain—our opinions matter not at all as to any decision he makes. Hope he at least coaches us to a MAC title before he leaves and we don’t have that distraction.

Actually the revolving door of coaches doesn't seem to be that bad in the Midwest. Expect candle to stay at this pace. Frost is the frontrunner for nbraska

The public backlash in response to Greg Schiano is getting real and ugly.

RE: 2017 coaching changes
I like Candle, but if he goes then I think we owe him nothing but gratitude. First outright division title since Christ was a child, and he did it without being a loudmouthed look at me kind of guy. Not much more you can ask for. That said, I feel like he will be back unless a major offer comes in. He saw what happened to Beckman, I don't think he will make the same mistake. That said, I don't see a big time job coming open for a guy with two years in the MAC. Could be wrong though

Texas Tech and ASU are scary jobs if you are TOLEDO hoping to Hold on to him... He is an offensive minded guy, and those places have pieces.

I wish the talk of loyalty and longevity of building a program came into play here a few short years ago ...01-lauramac2
