Possible Mann Act violations. Since the allegations involve multiple jurisdictions FBI involvement can ease some investigative procedural matters.

It's also possible that NYPD and NY state requested that the FBI get involved for the aforementioned jurisdictional problems and the fact that Weinstein could flee the country and FBI involvement would make investigation easier and smooth the path should they require extradition.

Its also possible they are looking at some kind of civil rights violations which would be a DOJ/FBI investigation.
