Never believed in the whole "playing pissed" thing.

Not trying to assert how I think the game goes. I just don't see why thats such a popular thing to say.

WKU barely sneaked out of El Paso with a "W" tonight. I think that dumpster fire is a better representation of the WKU program right now.

Where do NT and tech play? I could see NT winning out if that game is at denton

I think it is a dumpster fire in a good way, meaning that it is hard to predict because teams are beating up on each other. No clear favorite, no team has jumped up and said "We got this"

Ruston, Nov 4th. We are lucky to have USM, UNT, and UTSA at home this year.

That also means it will be super garbage the next year, having to go away to all 3...

I hope the old saying holds true that defense wins championships. Because defense is all my Herd has got.

So the west....
The fact that we have USM, UNT, and UTSA at home (FAU too) gives me some hope, but I am afraid that our inexperienced team will struggle to the finish.

RE: So the west....
Marshall is looking good in the East. Your NCSU loss keeps improving. Our finale could be epic.

WKU is staggering, but plowing forward. Any road win is a good win.
MTSU is improving. FIU gets another measuring stick.
FAU popped ODU! Didn't see that coming.
Charlotte is still building and will hopefully make some gains this year.

UNT must like its present perch, but it is going to have a heck of a fight to keep it, starting with UTSA next weekend! I foresee a logjam!
The last 2 years Tech had a senior QB to lead them. J'Mar will mature. Still in the race but shakey.
UTSA is still in the race as well, and played well in a good game.
UAB is skipping a few steps in the rebuilding process it seems. LOL!
Rice and UTEP are cannon fodder. DOA.

I don't know what to expect from USM's offense the rest of the way. The defense is pretty good, and will keep us in games this year, but staying on the field all night long is going to get us beaten, so leaning on Ito might be our best hope.

RE: So the west....
My point is, just like I said before OUR game vs UTSA, you never want to play a good team after they've had a tough loss where they thought they could've won. This entire week UTSA is going to be chomping at the bit to go out and practice and right the ship and prove the previous week was uncharacteristic of their team. This was exactly the case with USM. We lost at home to UNT after we were up 21-7 in the 1st quarter...there's no excuse for that. So our guys went out Monday and took practice super personal all week (with a little chip on their shoulder) just itching to go out and prove something. UTSA will do the same and take it out on UNT. Again, with scenarios like this the stats are thrown out the window and the same thing applies with UTSA/UNT.

UTSA 45
UNT 31

Sturm will probably toss a zillion TDs in this game.

I could see that. Have to see if anyone gets past our defense. Lord knows we aren't going to score a lot of points.

So what you're saying.....

Western at Marshall could be a 7 to 6...13-10 score?

Other than the NCST game...Western and Marshall played similar schedules vs awful offensive teams. Marshall 17.4ppg - Western 19ppg

I don't know if either are as good as the points allowed...one thing is 100% for sure. Both are awful on offense

I haven't watched but one Marshall game but Marshall has played some really awful offensive teams other than NCST.

Miami (OH) 92nd in points scored 25 ppg vs Marshall 26
NCST 35.5 PPG VS Marshall 37
Kent State 10 ppg (130) vs Marshall 0 (Kent scored 0-3 4 times)
Cincinnati 22.8ppg (104) vs Marshall 21 (scored 21-23 3 games 26 vs APeay
Charlotte 12.8 ppg (127) vs Marshall 3 (UNCC scored 0-7 4 times)

Western looks similar vs the schools played...with UNCC coming to town this week. Luckily other than FAU there doesn't look to be a good offensive team in the east.

Inexperience is also an issue with North Texas. We've got a lot of young and new faces in the lineup. Hopefully the last two weeks shows the team is putting things together. I know our offense is better than it was a month ago. Let's see how the team handles the bye week. Last year we beat Army after the bye so hopefully Littrell knows how to make sure his team is ready to go.

I think hard facts are a better indicator for picking winners.

Last night it looked like a few key UTSA players got dinged up. It appeared Sturm hyper-extended his throwing arm on a pass in the first half, though he did end up playing a good game. Stewart appeared to take a hard shot to the knee at the end of a catch. And Jupe also had to leave the game. Not saying they are going to miss our game next week, but their health will be an important story to keep an eye on.

UTSA can show up to Denton anxious to play, as long as North Texas shows up prepared to play.
