and what was the end result due to not hiring from the 'full body of available coaches' due to that move????????????????????

fk'n E12L.

Letting Fedora coach the bowl game made no difference in the next hire for two reasons:

1) We didn't delay the search nor the hire because of it. The turnaround was quick enough that Johnson was (conveniently) introduced as the next coach while the team was in Hawaii.

2) Saunders had long since already decided Johnson was her man. Remember, it turned out he was hired despite a multitude of protests by people on the advisory committee, an m.o. Saunders repeated with the hiring of Hammond as full-time A.D. shortly thereafter.

Probably the worst decisions ever made at USM after that great win at Houston. I still haven't gotten over the stupidity.

Worse than that last play call against Louisville in 2012?

while that is a possible scenario (since I'm not her), I'm still sticking with my version....

either way, it's the dumbest move ever made in the 43 yrs I've lived here....

We interviewed Monken in 2012. Apparently he cursed in the interview which didn't cost him the job but was used as a strike against him.

What was the story on Anderson's interview? I seem to remember him wearing jeans to the interview which some people sorta freaked out about.

LOL. Must be a Mississippi thing. When I worked for Mississippi Power I remember that they disqualified a guy for cursing in his interview.

Same here. Every year since, my wife and I have wanted to make an end of year donation to USM Athletics, but those decisions and memories are stuck in the back of my mind. We give to a needy non-profit instead. It's possible, but I don't think I'll get over it. Makes me 2nd guess every decision, no matter who's running the show.

Supposedly, his interview was scheduled right after a practice and he either didn't change clothes or he just threw on a new pair of shorts & some sandals or something before heading over. He was then deemed "too unprofessional" by the queen.

She didn't want to hire him anyway, though, because she found Fedora to be too popular on campus and too much of a "Playboy" for her liking and was afraid Anderson would be more of the same.

Should be delivered to Vito in a large brown envelope with a satisfactory amount of non-traceable cash.
