Is WSU willing and able to follow in Liberty's footsteps?

Why, just why Liberty?

Liberty is going from FCS to FBS without an invite—which I thought was against NCAA rules. Consequently, WSU should use this as a way to become a FBS program without an invite. WSU has a stadium that holds over 10,000 more than what Liberty plays in. WSU just needs to start football ASAP and follow in Liberty’s footsteps….

I'd like to see us follow the exact same path. If the Shocks win big in AAC basketball every year I think you'll see it happen. It will take some years for the fans to wet their appetites for football again. Buses to Tulsa will be a good start. If we start sending several buses... you'll know a fire has been lit.

They will never send a bus to Oklahoma. They would stop at the Taco Bell in Bartlesville and the rims would be jacked.

WSU is “on the clock” as discussed in this thread. If you read the link to the article that I provided in post #261, Liberty’s decision was greatly influenced by the B12 and possible realignment. WSU is in a FBS conference that will likely be impacted by either future B12 expansion or reconstruction. Consequently, it doesn’t have time to wait and see “if the Shocks win big in AAC basketball every year” to at least start a FCS program. You also have to factor in the 2 year transition period from FCS to FBS. You wanted a way to fast-track an upstart football program to FBS and now you have an example. WSU is "screwed" when the B12 comes here for "building materials" and Shocker football doesn't exists in some form—preferably at the FBS level….

WSU would greatly increase its chances of remaining with most of the schools in this conference when the B12 comes here for building material if Shocker football exists in some form—preferably at the FBS level….

Is it still a 2 year transition period if going from no football to FBS? Has that even ever happened?

Very good questions.... UCONN got an invite, so I don't even know if a school can go from nothing to FBS without an invite. I'll rep the first person +2 that provides the "correct" answers for both questions and links for the answers....

No answers yet… and we have all these knowledgeable board members. I’ll up the ante: I'll rep the first person +2 that provides the "correct" answers and +2 for links to the answers. In order for me to easily rep the correct answers with links, please place the answers in one post and “quote” the answers with the links in another post.
