The only exception is if it is an alum who has some special tie to that school where they would be content being at a lower level. So by outdated I mean success can very much be had with a moving coach, as long as the administration values a specific system.

I know it's hard to consider Gonzaga a mid, but you think he hasn't heard better offers?

It took a couple years and numerous P5 offers to lure Shaka Smart from VCU.

It can be done, but not ever likely at UNCW.

Again it not impossible but hardly realistic. Yes he built that empire and is obviously proud of it, and he made that job as attractive as most top tier jobs. I dont think he will be a lifer there, though. I think he will end up at one of the blue bloods when all is said and done in the next few years. He is also connected with Gonzaga since he has been on staff since 1989 and is from the pacific northwest. Again special circumstances have kept him there, so he falls under the "special ties to the school" moniker I mentioned.

Money talks and Gonzaga will be in trouble if they dont really raise the bar, which for a school that size is tough. It is a miracle Few has stayed there that long making around 1.5M a year. Sometimes having long ties with a school outweigh the money. WSU has kept Marshall by competing with salaries. VCU kept Smart with sizeable raises too.

On a different note I think if Few wants to stay on the west coast. I would not at all be shocked if Alford goes to IU that Few truly considers leaving Gonzaga for UCLA.

If we can sustain success, we will be able to pay near the $1 million mark. Not bad feed to live and coach near Wrightsville beach. Let'ssay Blizzard works his way to a HC position. You don't think he'd be a lifer at UNCW?

If he got called for an ACC job to make 3x that? No, i don't. sorry boss money talks. If it's close, it's a tough call when it's that much difference, it's not.
