2017 WM baseball season
Raquet took 22 pitches to get through his debut inning, but keeps Gators off the board. Commentators said he's expected to be drafted high. Works even faster than Nick Brown. On to the 7th. Tribe holding on.

Ugh...Tribe giving this away in the field. 5-4 Florida. Need to refocus.

Oh well....tonight may have been our best shot at getting one this weekend. Love to see these guys come back fighting tomorrow. Soph reliever for Florida was very good.

Very enjoyable way to spend a Friday night at home. Very impressed with the Tribe. Couple of plays here and there. In all fairness, Tribe's 3rd and 4th runs were a gift as the Florida CF took the wrong angle to the ball.

Florida left tons of runners on base; Tribe pitching was clutch. Last Florida pitcher slammed the door.

RE: 2017 WM baseball season
Reading the various Florida outlets this morning, their CF is a converted shortstop who played first game in CF last night. That explains why he took the wrong angle. Baseball never ceases to amaze.

Quote from Florida manager: "We got through it". He credited the last pitcher with winning the game.

The starting Florida pitcher that left in the fifth was on pitch count and is subject of much pre-season hype.

Looking forward to watching today and tomorrow on ESPN on line.

One other observation. From my seat in front of the computer screen, I thought the home plate umpire was outstanding. He had a pitcher's strike zone, he was very consistent, he was in position for the plays at the plate, and most importantly, he wasn't a homer and gave the Tribe a fair shake.

Lots to like in this tough loss to one of the best teams in college baseball. Raquet, despite loss, had great stuff. Six ks in three innings...two runs off him scored on wild pitch and groundout.

Brown had good stuff and pitched pretty well.

We hit their ace, whom many feel will be the #1 selection in the MLB draft, pretty good.

Hope we can pick off one or both of the remaining two games.

By the way, there were 5400 people at the game!

After the tense first game it's a very disappointing next two for the baseball team. Lost yesterday, 8-1
and getting walloped today, 9-0, in the fourth inning.

No hitting and bad pitching will do it every time.

In case anyone from the Athletics Dept. is monitoring this site, the video feed for this afternoon's baseball game against Lafayette is not coming through.

Tribe rallies to win, 5-4 over Lafayette in tenth inning. Scored one run in ninth to tie and two-out run in tenth to get that first win of the year!

Great relief pitching final five inning. 12 strikeouts.

A very good win against their senior ace who shut down Notre Dame in their opening game win last week. Would anticipate it to get easier the rest of the weekend for the Tribe.

Moving the Saturday start to 10am to beat the weather makes for a good opportunity to arrive early for some baseball before heading to Kap.

Tribe bats exploding this morning...lead Lafayette, 14-1, in bottom of sixth. 12 hits thus far, including homers by Hall and Ameer. Sheehan pitching well.

Nice sweep for Tribe this weekend, after closing it out with a 6-5 win today over Lafayette.

#2 Florida swept #17 Miami this weekend, so, no disgrace in dropping three last weekend.

Will be interesting to see how they fare up in C-ville this week. #12 UVA is 7-0 and will be seeking a little revenge for knocking them out last June.

And another come-from-behind win...trailed 4-0 in this one. Great relief hurling: one run in six innings.
Tribe pitchers fanned nine.

All-American candidate, Kevin Large 2 for 4 this afternoon and 12 for 23 for the first six games, a .522
batting average with 5 doubles and a triple.

Now go on the road for five road games.

RE: 2017 WM baseball season
Got my first in-person look at Tribe baseball at Plumeri against Lafayette College on Sunday. W&M seems to have more pitching depth than recent years and like last year, they swing the bats very well.
LHP Nick Raquet, a soph transfer from UNC is the real deal. He pitched an inning in relief Sunday, there were 4-5 scouts in attendance and Raquet was throwing 92-93 consistently.
Raquet has pitched in relief, but will get his first start for the Tribe today at UVA.

RE: 2017 WM baseball season
There are only two places that I have found that rank all 300 div 1 baseball teams as opposed to just the top 25 or 50 and those are Massey and Moore. Massey has WM's record at 4-3 for some reason which is incorrect so that leaves us with Moore. After being swept by Florida (currently #7 according to Moore) and then sweeping Lafayette (currently #279) the Tribe sit at #149, in the company of Cincinnati, Canisius, Southern Illinois, and Lipscomb.

The rest of the CAA:
#63 Charleston
#93 Wilmington
#149 William & Mary
#174 Elon
#197 Delaware
#202 Northeastern
#203 James Madison
#222 Towson
#260 Hofstra

This week's opponents: Virginia (5), VMI (226), Rhode Island (205), Monmouth (250), and Dayton (264)
