that's misleading ...
the game aired on ABC ...
an over-the-air network with greater penetration ...
by comparison, Miami v. florida aired on ESPN which is available in far fewer homes ...
a 4.5 overnight among top-ranked teams up against little competition ...

NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT

Wow, 4.5 rating second best noon kickoff ever & best since ND @ Mich 5.0 in 2005. Beat out Fla @ Miami 3.7.

Top 5 ESPN streamed game.

New Louisville market record with a 28.6, beating out UL @ Ky in 2013 26 rating.

Drew a 13.3 in Birmingham, 12.8 in Jacksonville, 9.4 in Columbus & a 8.7 in Atlanta.

This is actually a larger deal than you think. Finally someone other than FSU, Clemson, and Miami can command a larger draw. Besides, that's a pretty good rating for such a blowout.

How about the 9.4 in Columbus.

Hoping FSU would lose so the Buckeyes could go up in the polls? 05-stirthepot

Great win for the Cardinals. Made me feel better about the drubbing we took until the Bulls game yesterday.

Cheers,
Neil

Agreed. Just need two Coastal teams to rise up to help when Miami is down.

You kinda did, but just not at the same time. We had our run last year. GT the year before. If UNC, Miami, GT, VT, and Pitt are all good teams, the Coastal will cannibalize itself.

I recall georgia v. s carolina (ESPN), texas v. oklahoma (ABC), michigan v. ohio state (ABC) doing big numbers in the noon slot ...

To be fair, you were playing a team that was fcs until about 2 years ago.

Sorry, was referring to two teams that are football draws. GT's rise came so late in their season that the conference TV ratings weren't helped. And UNC needs a couple more years being Top 25 for them to help in terms of drawing ratings.

But, hey, they are way ahead of my Orange in that department.

04-cheers

Says the link in the OP, didn't you read it? It's already sourced & the topic of this thread. Go back to post #1 & read it for yourself. Where those games you mentioned in September?

Ratings are good for the league but I was rather hoping no one was watching this one...

ESPN thinks it intriguing enough to choose as its noon game.

UofL vs FSU was the 2nd highest rated game of weekend behind only Bama/Ole Miss, beating OSU/OU, Stanford/USC, and ND/MSU. Also the highest rated Noon kickoff in 11 seasons, across all stations. The country was watching.
