What Does the New Media Deal Mean for UNT?
Here's my take.

This is a terrible deal. Sure younger fans might not have a problem with it. They seem to like watching games on their phones and tablets. I'm old school. I like sitting in a recliner watching my 70" Sharp. I like rewinding my DVR and watching a play again if I feel like it.

I don't like watching streaming sports. I remember back when North Texas was in the Sun Belt. I hated watching games on espn3 back then too. It was terrible. Sure technology has improved over the years, but it is still small time. C-USA's 5 guaranteed espn games are all against P5 programs. Those games would have aired on TV anyway.

ESPN3 is small time. Real conferences play the majority of their games on real TV. espn3 games shouldn't even be considered TV games. That's just not TV.

MacLeod should be fired! If we couldn't ink a respectable deal with the networks, then we should have just developed our own conference network. The Mountain was not a bad product. BYU manages to finance an entire network. I think C-USA could do it too. Adding a live streaming component to the network couldn't be too difficult.

I love C-USA West. I love the collection of universities. But now everything else seems very much like the old Sun Belt I thought we left behind.
