Careful.
Champlin didn't do anything...it says right in the article "Courtesy UAB athletics communications" and the Author is AL.com.

That's not what I'm implying. It's the lack of effort that disappoints me.

You were implying that "He" (I assume Drew Champlin was the he?) "copied" a UAB release...but that's not what happened.
UAB sends press releases to AL.com to put out under a general "AL.com" account. Drew puts a lot of effort into his stories - especially considering he's basically a catch-all reporter that was removed from his beat because AL.com didn't find it necessary or valuable to have a full-time UAB reporter.

You and I have different definitions of effort. No matter the sport, Drew's articles are quote heavy and forced.
You really think al.com "removed" him for his beat? Drew is an Alabama alumn and that is where his and al.com's interest lie.
Keep clicking his stuff and you'll continue to fuel the fire.

Well, I've known Drew personally since he was Troy's beat writer. And I know Steve Irvine (UAB's beat writer before him) personally. I worked along side both of them.
I was there when Steve's job was eliminated and when Drew was hired as a "replacement" (as not just UAB's beat writer but a general Birmingham college sports beat writer). I was also there when Drew was pulled from his beat without his asking or consideration. Your criticism should lie with AL.com, not Drew.
I greatly appreciate what you have done with your outlet. My suggestion would be to focus on your own content and don't let your energy channel into resentment of other media outlets. Trust me on that...it's not worth it. I speak from experience. You guys are rocking it.

You're response is refreshing. Thank you. I shouldn't be bitter.

Anyways, the golf team is on a roll. Glad we didn't see any dropoff after Kaufmann's retirement.

Absolutely they are on a roll.
The only two teams that performed better in this regional are teams that clearly could afford to spend some time at this course (Stanford and Oregon).

How did golf earn a bid even though they finished 2nd in the conference tournament?
Was the SOS great enough or does more than 1 team in the conference get an auto bid?

The team was ranked #37 in the country, that's all I know.

We received an at large bid as the 37th ranked team. North Texas also received an at large bid.

This is another great outcome in the Regionals for UAB's golf team, now heading back into the NCAA Championships.
