It is absolutely amazing how much smaller our players looked compared to now. Cokely, Norton and Lee looked like kids. Denzell Watts looked slimmer and quicker, and Tyler Madison looked like a Tasmanian devil on the boards.
We have come a long way since last year, and this is a team that belongs in the tournament just based on the eye test of comparing the team that beat Iowa St to the team that we have on the floor this year.
Hope we can take care of business in the CUSA tourney.
Accurate observations, Matt. I watched it again myself a week ago.
I've seen our team play every game at Bartow as well as the Auburn game, Southern Miss, La Tech, and Destin. We clearly measure up to every CUSA team I've seen in person. I was very pleased with how we measured up to Illinois and Virginia Tech as well. I don't think in either game we were physically beat by their size. A large part of our success this year is due to Corey's off season work. There's a reason why we haven't incurred any major injuries. Our team is built and conditioned to face various types of line ups fielded by our opponents. I believe we'll see a physicality disparity come conference tournament time when the other CUSA teams are beat down and tired.

This is a good team and would have benefited from a tougher schedule. I believe a tougher schedule would have brought more quality win and losses. I suspect the schedule was made with youth in mind/ and growth. I believe we are still a year ahead of schedule with this team and next years Senior and Junior laden team is the Sweet Sixteen team...But lets not sleep on the fact this team was 20 additional pounds ( in the paint ) away from sweet sixteen last year.

20 pounds? UCLA owned us in the paint. They were bigger, stronger, and had much better post moves. We were not close in my opinion. The guy who would've solved our problems against ucla is currently not on our roster in my opinion.

20 Pounds on Coke or Mehenti against UCLA could have made the difference inside.
I believe Coke said he realized he needed more weight strength because he was pushed around so much as a freshmen, my contention is 20 pounds could have made the difference

Coaching staff missed on Gustys (Hofstra) and Haase (Purdue). Both would do wonders in terms of rebounding and guarding the other team's big guy. We don't need them as much now, but they could have been the different in advance another game in the tournament.

Justin Johnson kept our guys of the boards in Bowling Green. A skilled tall & wide post man will continue to be our kryptonite.

Finish his statement. He also said in the same situation next week, he would play it out the same way because of his philosophy.
Theres no need to when i have a Memphis Blazer.
Point is UNC sucks and Ol Roy is a walking contradiction. He only has one championship i think and dont see him winning another. Part of the Dean Smith coaching tree i guess that still matters too.

I wouldn't quite go that far, but everybody has their opinion.

I thought he should have called a time out, but my next Ncaa game coached will make me a perfect one for one if the time out worked. In addition what I saw out of Duke last night will go a long way in how I evaluate fatigue in the future....NC had all the advantages but lost, coaching need to be considered as the differences.

Krzyzewski - 5, Pitino -2, Donovan - 2, still active. Calhoun & Knight still alive with 3 each. And I know Donovan is at OKC, right now.

Great coaches prepare their teams for the final minutes of the game.
They have set plays for the last shot, etc.
While I normally prefer they call timeout to set up the last play it also allows the other team to be more prepared for the play.

In other words, the one active coach with more championships beat Roy.

And with six scholarship guys, i love watching UNC hoops and comparing them to UAB. They dont seem to go after blocks much compared to us. They simply box out and rebound. Also Roy hasnt been placing many guys in the NBA lately and plenty guys would walk to Chapel Hill.

Whenever you call the timeout, you have to get the ball back in play. I'm a fan of playing it out as long as things are comfortable enough. Sometimes, you can tell the team doesn't know what is going on, at that point I think regrouping helps.
