Fri Jan 22 @ SCSU (Toga night)
I banned myself from starting game threads last year, let's see if I've turned it around and if we can get some discussion going again on this forum.
Bronco's travel to SCSU this weekend, playing on the big sheet. Always make me nervous when they play on an Olympic sheet, though the last two years WMU has managed to pick up points on each of thier road series so let's hope that trend continues
WMU is facing not only one of the top goalies in conference, he is one of the best in the country. Lindgren comming off a weekend vs UMD were he earned NCHC honors as the goalie of the week. He is good size, positionally sound, poised, very athletic and a quick glove-one of the few righties they will face. He has the ability to put his team his back and single hardly win a game for his team even if the are being out played. Broncos will need to get traffic to the net and look for the dirty greasy goals.
Because of Lindgren, in order for the Broncos to be successful, they need to stay with in striking distance. Playing a displined game will be very important here as Broncos don't need to give the Huskies any more additional PP opportunities (keep it under 3). They also need to play physical and not allow SCSU small/speedy forwards to skate through our neutral zone. Huskie are transition team, love to skate through the NZ with speed, passing rink wide and then bring it back to the middle for a center attack. If we do a good job of plugging up the middle, Broncos can slow down the Huskies.
SCSU d-core is where we can hopefully take advantage. They can be pressured, out worked and out manned up front and along the walls. They also have tendacey's to get sloppy and too cute with the puck.
I think the Friday game is on TV, FOX Sports North (FSN). Obviously they are on NCHC.TV. If watching, keep in mind the SCSU production is basicly 100% student produced. The production quality in very good and very impressive considering who is producing it.
Did I mention that it's toga night? SCSU student section should have fun with this, brings back some memories for me...
Let's go Broncos!!

Let's hope we don't get taken to the woodshed and killed 11-1 like we did a few months back at Lawson by this team....

I'm sure I'll be thrashed for saying this, but the Broncos actually played a pretty good game tonight, out playing SCSU for the most part of three periods.
Come out tomorrow with win, head back home with a road split and 3 valueable points.

IDK. It's possible they were holding Olson out to keep him fresh for possible start tonight. I guess we will find out soon....

Didn't someone post just the other day that this team had just turned a corner? Sigh.

I wish we would stop turning corners. Oh well. Which team will show up tonight?
