Too much of an obvious setup in the trailer for it to actually happen. It will be teased/tempted in this movie and it will ultimately go nowhere.

You're probably right but the canon and video games are rife with Luke's struggles as a teacher, losing students to the darkside, trying to rebuild the Jedi order. Maybe this time he is able to bring one back from the brink. Maybe he is The Last Jedi, rather than her. I don't know but I like that there is speculation again on Star Wars. I'm well old enough to remember the anticipation of the original movies and the stir each revelation caused. Hopefully it can be that good again.

I'm excited for the movie, for sure.

I am NOT excited for CGI Chewbacca. What the hell is that?!

meh, they had a celebration after ANH and the first death star, too, and it wasn't the end. The fact that you showed Ewoks to make your case doesn't help it any. Selling out for merchandise Lucas was.

Chewbacca is still a costume.

I would have preferred they stuck with his fuzzier look from ROTJ than reverted to the smoother hair of ROTS and ANH. It just looks too clean.

Her outfit is what she is wearing earlier in the film, probably talking to Luke. Kylo extending his hand is likely a genuine gesture to someone. But who, idk. Likely at the end of the film. Stuff looks like its burning and falling apart behind him.

RE: OT: Star Wars Thread [Warning: Spoilers]
I saw it last night, but don't want to comment too much since I'm assuming most of you haven't seen it.

From a macro perspective the move is very similar to every other version of the series. There's a dark side master with a dark side apprentice fought by a resistance/rebels a jedi or two or three. This is one of the reasons why I thought Rogue One was so compelling. It got outside that macro version of the franchise and told a deeper story. Anyway...

It's clear Rian Johnson's intent was to set the stage for a very different future for the next iterations of Star Wars. The question is will JJ Abrams follow suit in Episode IX, because when he did the Force Awakens he very much stuck to a familiar script.

I won't say anything so that I don't spoil any of the major twists. I will say this. There is very little down time in this movie. There isn't a lot of actual physical fighting until the end, but there is plenty of other action - a lot of emotional roller coasters - taking place. Some outstanding moments of humor too -moreso than we've seen in the past. You're not going to see any senate meetings in this one. The scenes with Carrie Fisher seem to have more tug knowing that she's now gone.

Does JJ Abrams ever not stick with something familiar? I don't have high hopes for this film.

Saw it last night. Enjoyed most of it, but there's one scene near the beginning that nearly ruined it for me. To avoid spoilers, I'll just say it involved Leia.

I'm not getting a good vibe from this one. Will probably see it after Christmas. My son is super excited about it though.

The sequel trilogy would have been better with Thrawn.

Just saying.

Yah a bit cheesy. Better ways to have accomplished the same thing. But overall it was good.

Man, I really liked The Last Jedi. Way better than The Force Awakens.

Do you think that Rian Johnson would read all the Snoke theories and giggle a little?
